By train, by bus or with a driver who knows bikepackers: this is how you get to the start of a route and home again. Need a ride to the start, a pickup at the end, or a rescue mid-route? The shuttle list is below.
Train
The rules can change. Check the Israel Railways website before you travel.
- 01 Folding bikes (wheels up to 20 inches): any time.
- 02 Board only the carriage marked for bikes, usually the southern one. Check at the station before the train arrives.
- 03 Pros: your bike stays with you, and there are toilets, power and plenty of space.
- 04 Cons: limited hours, and on a busy line expect some looks.
Bus
- 01 More flexible and goes almost everywhere. The bike goes in the luggage hold, and you usually need to take off the front wheel.
- 02 In the end it’s the driver’s call. If you don’t board at the first stop, the hold may already be full.
- 03 Plan the ride with Moovit: real-time arrivals and lines to the trailhead. Get Moovit →
Shuttle drivers
Filter by region. Drivers marked Nationwide appear in every region.

Before you book a shuttle
- 01 Book ahead, especially at weekends and holidays. There aren’t many drivers in the desert and the Arava.
- 02 Say how many riders and bikes you are, and whether there are big bags, so the driver brings the right vehicle.
- 03 Agree the price in advance, including the exact pickup point. Send the driver a location pin from your phone.
- 04 Sharing a shuttle with other riders? Ask in the community Telegram group.

Tips for planning the journey
- 01 Do all the trips and transfers at the start. At the end, when you’re tired, take one line home.
- 02 In most of the country there’s no public transport from Friday afternoon until Saturday night, and on Saturday night bikes aren’t allowed on trains. Trip ends on Shabbat? Plan your return with a shuttle or a friend.
- 03 Keep the last day short, so there’s time to reach your transport.
- 04 Don’t skimp on a shuttle: treat bikepacking like a trip abroad.
