One trail across the whole country
The Israel Bike Trail is a national project led by the Israel Nature and Parks Authority together with the Ministry of Tourism and the Government Tourism Company. The goal: a continuous, purpose-built mountain bike trail linking the country’s northern tip to its southern one.
The route was planned to pass through the best Israel has to offer: ancient heritage sites, old caravan roads, craters and desert landscapes, and the many communities along the way. Each segment is one day of riding and ends where there is water and a place to sleep.
Behind the trail is a large community of volunteers who build and maintain the segments by hand. Ride it, and you are riding on the work of many people.
Why ride it
Built for bikes
Not a random dirt road but a signed, purpose-built trail, one of the longest in the world designed for mountain bikes.
Day-sized segments
Every segment ends at water and lodging, so it is easy to plan a multi-day journey or a single day out.
Views you can’t see from the road
The Ramon Crater rim, the Eilat Mountains, the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea, on land partly opened to bikes for the first time.
History at every kilometre
The Incense Route, Masada and thousands of years of history, alongside hundreds of millions of years of geology.
Trail segments
The segments open today are in the south: from the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea, through the Negev and the Arava, to Eilat. Tap a segment to open its page on the trail site, with a map, route file and practical info.
