Between the villages

You leave Kfar Saba park quietly, and within a few kilometres the city is behind you. Then comes a string of villages: Sde Warburg, Ein Vered, Yanuv, Tnuvot, Burgata and Haniel, with fields in between and small pergolas for a shady stop. In winter, look in on the Ein Sarid winter pond, and near the end of the section the Water Buffalo Spring by HaOgen is waiting.

Nahal Alexander and Hadera

You cross Nahal Alexander by Tel Hefer and pass the picnic spots on its bank. From there the route heads north through Hibbat Zion to Hadera, the first real town on the loop. It is the best place to fill your bags before the sea: fuel, supermarkets and cafés, all right by the route.

Along the way

  • km 35.6Italy Park night campsite, 110 m off the route

To the sea

Nahal Hadera leads west, and the chimneys of the Orot Rabin power station, visible for miles, keep growing. Then the sea. Hadera's shore is a nature reserve and a national park, with Tel Gador, an ancient mound, right at the water's edge. From here on the sea never leaves you.

The coastline

Twenty kilometres south with the sea on your right the whole way. Michmoret and the mouth of Nahal Alexander, Beit Yanai beach and the Bitan Aharon reserve, then the Netanya promenade on top of the cliffs, with water taps every few hundred metres and a café at almost every step. Past the city come the Dora winter pond and Iris Park, where the purple irises bloom in February and March.

Poleg, and the way home

Poleg beach and the Nahal Poleg reserve are the last green stretch by the sea. Through Sha'ar Poleg, a gap in the sandstone ridge, the route turns east to the Poleg pond and Tel Yitzhak. Then come quiet kilometres past Dror Hill, Sde Warburg and Tzofit, back to the park in Kfar Saba where you started.
